Release Date: February 5, 1986 Interview: My half-sister Sheena picked this song because this is one of her favorite songs. She was 4 years old when this song was released. Her mother was a very devoted Prince fan. This song is about him saying that in a woman he doesn't want anything but her love.

Song- Car Wash
Artist: Rose Royce
Release Date: October 22, 1976
Interview: My mother Jackie chose this as her favorite song. The time period when this came out was very "funky" if you would say. And as a 14 year old girl growing up in the city she was interested in hip new songs. And that is exactly what she found in this song. Car Wash was a hip sounding new song. The song was made for the movie "Car Wash". This is still one of her favorite songs.

Song- Reach Out I'll Be There
Artist: The Four Tops
Release Date: August 18, 1966 Interview: My father, Robert picked this as his favorite song from 1966. he was 10 when this song was released. The Four Tops were a group that was produced by Motown and out out a lot of love songs including "Reach Out I'll Be There". According to Robert this song helped him get a few girlfriends back in 5th grade.

Howard Beach Incident- In Howard Beach, a predominately white neighborhood in the borough in Queens three black men were attacked and beaten by four white teenagers in the early morning on December 20, 1986. They were beaten so badly their bodies seemed 'lifeless". The first officer on the seen was a white man who rudely talked to one of the victims upon arrival. Once this story hit the media the public was furious. The white teenagers were sentenced to 5-10 years at the most, and some even got off with community service.
1976:Paul Robenson Article- Paul Robenson was an African- American pioneer. He was a singer, actor, recording artist, and athlete. He is best know for his political radicalism and activism during the civil rights movement. He was the sun of runaway slaves, and accomplished many things in his life.
1966:Black Cabinet Member- On January 13th, 1966 President Lyndon B. Johnson picks new cabinet members. This is something that all of the presidents do, but something was different about his selection, For the first time in American history he picks a black cabinet member named Robert C. Weaver. His new job was head of the Head of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This is the agency in charge of making sure that the housing rules are fair.
